History Of The Practice

The Practice has been established in Cranleigh for over 50 years. During and after the second world war it was operating from Pittance Farm on Smithwood Common. At this time it was an agricultural and equine practice run by Mr J Craft. Later it relocated to Broadoak and in 1963 moved across the road to the present site. By now it was trading as A.G.Berry & W.Miller, Veterinary Surgeons.

During the 1970s and 1980s the small animal side expanded. In 1980 Mr Miller retired, Mike Harrison took over, and the practice continued as Berry and Harrison, with Mr Berry as consultant. The practice changed its name to Brookmead Veterinary Surgery in the early 1990s and Neil Coode became a partner in 1996.

The present building dates from the late 1800s when it was built as the doctor's house and surgery with stables to house his pony and trap. It includes a number of old features such as a bread oven in the kitchen and oak panelling in the waiting room.
